Laura Curns, founder

Laura is an accomplished and results-driven business advisor with a proven track record of achievement in human capital management, global technology deployment, M&A, and strategic planning.  During her 23 years with Aon Hewitt and Alight Solutions, she advised companies of all sizes and industries on technology optimization, cost containment, HR program design, talent acquisition and onboarding, sales training, and performance management.


Laura is a practical advisor who leverages her analytical and strategic skills to help clients rethink their people practices to innovate and scale for the future.  The end goal is always to help you and your business be better.

Rethinking How You Work

A non-profit facing quick growth needed to rethink how they were organized and getting work done every day.  We began by capturing the current state  - what was being done to deliver on today's mission and by whom.  We then defined a new future state - an organizational structure with new roles and responsibilities to better manage the increased demands expected as they grew.  Finally, we led an leader retreat to begin the change management required for this transformation.

Bringing Experience to Your M&A 

A sizable acquisition with a quick closing date meant additional experienced staff was needed to get the work done.  We executed their M&A strategy to hire 700 employees in 90 days, including setup and testing across payroll, onboarding, and applicant tracking technologies.  We developed a vendor assessment process to assist technology reimplementation and contribution corrections to avoid IRS compliance penalties for late funding.  Negotiated 100% reimbursement of client’s implementation fee and month of free administrative costs due to vendor errors.

Managing Your People Through Change

When a company grows, roles must change and skill sets must expand.  This was the challenge of another services client looking to execute a five year, multi-state expansion plan.  Their challenge was defining what that meant for their people, their processes and their existing technology solutions.  Providing over the shoulder advisory support to senior leadership, we developed an employee engagement strategy to complement the multi-year business transformation plan already underway.  This included focus on the talent management needs to clarify current and future skills what skill sets are needed, how best to upskill the current team and what performance management practices are needed to ensure measurement and progress.
